Anna Santowski, LMFT
Psychotherapist
Hi! My name is Anna, and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist, fully licensed in Maryland and Illinois.
If there is one thing I'm sure of, it's that the quality of our relationships (romantic, friendly, familial...) impacts our mental health. I absolutely love working with individuals, couples, and families exploring new ways to improve those core-relationships. By interrupting patterns of negative behavior, poor communication skills, and harbored resentments, we leave room to add a more productive skill-set to handling conflict. I bring a warm, nonjudgmental approach to sessions, and it's my greatest pleasure to help you feel unstuck. My approach is integrative and informed by CBT, ACT, and DBT.
Outside of relational work, I enjoy working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. I'm particularly well-versed and invested in working with those suffering with chronic pain and chronic illness, drawing from my years working with patients needing higher levels of care.
Education/Background:
I received my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University, and bachelor degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Saint Louis University. While pursing my graduate degree, I worked in a mental health clinic seeing families, couples, and individuals with a variety of relationship stressors. Prior to joining Baltimore Family Therapy, I spent several years working at a day program supporting clients and their families in managing severe depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and psychosis.
When not in the therapy space, you can find me hanging with my cat Rajah or enjoying the Baltimore Harbor Front.
Not-So-Specialities:
PTSD and active addiction aren't things I specialize in. However, I am more than happy to guide you towards clinicians who work in these areas (finding therapists can be hard, and I'm happy to help ease that burden!).
