Anne Merritt, LCSW-C
Psychotherapist
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C), I have the privilege of working with children, teens, and adults on an individual basis. I’m passionate about adapting to each person’s unique needs and life circumstances. I specialize in helping individuals manage anxiety, navigate life transitions, and strengthen their personal relationships. My goal is to create a space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make lasting changes in their lives.
Why I Do This Work:
I believe therapy is a powerful journey of growth, healing, and self-discovery. Everyone is capable of change, and sometimes all it takes is the right support. I’ve always felt drawn to helping others through difficult times and understand how important it is to find a therapist who feels like the right fit. I work hard to provide a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore the issues that matter most to them. I’ve seen firsthand how therapy can help people move forward with clarity and confidence, and I’m deeply committed to walking alongside my clients as they work toward their goals.
My Education & Experience:
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Towson University and my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work, with a specialization in Children and Families. While my academic background focused on family systems, my clinical work is centered around supporting individuals. I’ve worked with clients in a range of settings, and my experience with diverse populations has shaped my flexible, individualized approach to therapy.
Throughout my career, I’ve supported clients facing anxiety related to school, work, relationships, and life transitions. I have a strong interest in helping individuals understand and improve the dynamics in their lives—whether that involves navigating a family conflict, adjusting to a career change, or working through challenges in their personal growth. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths-based, designed to help clients build resilience and make meaningful changes in their lives.
Specialties & Passions:
I primarily work with individuals navigating anxiety, stress, and major life transitions. I also enjoy helping clients better understand and improve the relationships in their lives—whether that’s with family members, friends, or partners—without providing family or couples therapy. My clients range in age from children to adults, and I take pride in tailoring my work to meet each person’s goals, personality, and lived experience.
Whether I’m supporting a teen managing social anxiety or an adult working through a major transition, I find it incredibly rewarding to help individuals move toward greater balance and emotional well-being. I believe that with support, people can grow in incredible ways—and I’m honored to be a part of that process.
Not So Specialties:
While I specialize in anxiety, life transitions, and relational concerns, I do not provide therapy for couples or families, and I do not primarily focus on treating depression, addiction, or personality disorders. If those are a primary concern, I would be happy to help connect you with a provider who is better suited to meet those needs!
